Introducing Moxxé del Re: Masi's Metodo Classico sparkling wine from Pinot Nero grapes of Oltrepò Pavese
Masi presents Moxxé del Re Brut 2020, a Metodo Classico sparkling wine from Pinot Nero Oltrepò Pavese DOCG grapes, born following the acquisition of the "Casa Re" estate in Montecalvo Versiggia (PV), in the heart of a territory historically renowned for the production of Pinot Nero grapes for sparkling wine base.
“Masi's natural habitat remains the Veneto region, but Oltrepò Pavese, the birthplace of Pinot Nero and emblem of Italian Metodo Classico, represents a 'coherent expansion': with Moxxé del Re, on one hand, we leverage the expertise gained in other sparkling wine expressions of the Group, on the other hand, we introduce into our portfolio a highly complementary product, in a category for which we envision a very interesting distributional future”.
With over 250 vintages in Valpolicella Classica, Masi boasts recognized expertise in the Appassimento technique for the production of great red wines, primarily the famous Amarone. Over the years, with its Technical Group, it has also developed solid know-how in the production of premium sparkling wines: from the Conte Federico Trento DOC Riserva, made under the Bossi Fedrigotti brand in Trentino, to the sparkling wines of Canevel in Valdobbiadene, to the Moxxé range by Masi, composed of two refined references with slightly withered Pinot Grigio grapes sparkling with the Charmat method.
Now, Moxxé del Re is added: characterized by a persistent and fine perlage, it stands out for its aromatic complexity, ranging from citrus notes to bread crust, hints of straw, hay, and alfalfa, typical of pure Pinot Nero. Its unmistakable bouquet and pleasant sapidity tell the story of the special extraction of the limestone soils of origin. The name reflects its belonging to the Moxxé line by Masi, while also emphasizing its origin from the Casa Re estate. The label is inspired by the black labels of Masi's super-premium products.
